Finlaw’s Phantoms at “The Ellie”
Prowl backstage and revel in unparalleled access to Denver’s Ellie Caulkins Opera House with Jack Finlaw, Director of Theatres and Arenas for the City of Denver. He had a hands-on role in the metamorphosis of the old Auditorium Theatre (site of the 1908 Democratic National Convention) into a world-class opera venue. He will be joined by Ellie Caulkins herself, patron and benefactor of opera in Denver (and beyond), in whose honor “The Ellie” is named. A catered lunch follows the tour at Kevin Taylor’s Limelight restaurant in the DPA Complex. Afterwards, willing spirits are invited to return to the Opera House and take seats in front of the curtain, to hear rising stars in the operatic firmament compete in The Metropolitan Opera’s regional auditions.
